During the Qing Dynasty, the refugees in Shandong and other places rushed to live outside the Shanhaiguan due to natural disasters, government policies and other factors. This event lasted for a long time and eventually formed the trend of “Rushing to northeast China”,especially in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic China. In this mighty trend, some people from Mongolia and their decedents having emigrated in Shandong joined in and lived outside the pass with the Han people. These Mongols, left over from the Yuan Dynasty and steeped in the Han culture for hundreds of years, and gradually became Chinese and lived in harmony with other ethnic groups in the northeast of the present China after they migrated outside the pass.Based on this background, this thesis makes an in-depth observation of the Mongolian community in “Rushing to northeast China”.In Shandong alone, there are mongolians named Liu,Su and Du.The Mongolian descendants, surnamed du,joined in “Rushing to northeast China”trend earlier, which lasted longer and thus more representative. The thesis thus take the Mongolian descendants surnamed du for an instance to study the history and development of the mongols who migrated to Shandong outside the pass so as to discuss the relationship between the historical heritage of the mongolia-yuan empire and the formation of a unified multi-ethnic state in today's China, and analyze the history of China's multi-ethnic exchanges and integration. In this way,a useful reference for the correct handling of today's ethnic relations can be made. This paper gives a brief introduction of the history of the Mongolians in Shandong and discusses the migration course of the descendants of Mongols in Shandong province through the historical literature and the first-hand data based on field investigation conducted by the author.Among them, the background, reason, time, route, location and other issues of “Rushing to Northeast China” of descendants of Mongols in Shandong province were deeply explored. On this basis, the social and living conditions of Mongols in Shandong and northeast China are further analyzed, and the clan culture of Mongols and the identity of Mongols and Han culture are discussed in depth. This paper consists of five parts: preface, text, conclusion, reference and appendix. In the preface, the author explains the reason of the topic selection and the significance of the research, summarizes the status quo of previous studies, introduces the research methods, innovations and relevant historical materials. The text is composed of four parts. The first part introduces the historical origin of the Mongols in Shandong as a whole, discusses the Mongols' strategy of the Mongol war against the central plains, the process of the Mongol army's attack on Shandong, the Mongol army's stationing in shiyi Shandong, and the ancestors of the Mongols in Shandong. The second part focuses on the migration process of the descendants of Mongols in Shandong province, including the background of the “Rushing to Northeast China”tide, the Mongol group in the “Rushing to Northeast China”trend in Shandong province, and the reasons, time, migration route and location of the “Rushing to Northeast China ”movement of the descendants of Mongols in Shandong province. The third part discusses the social life and cultural tendency of the descendants of Mongols, analyzes the social life of the descendants of Mongols in Shandong and the cultural identity of the descendants of Mongols in Shandong. The conclusion summarizes the whole paper.
