Cao Wenxuan, the winner of the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2016,is one of the best contemporary Chinese writers who create children's novels. After he won this international award,Chinese children's literature obtained more and more attention at abroad. In addition, his works have been translated into many different languages and popularized by worldwide readers. My research,on the translation of Cao Wenxuan's works in France, under the guide of the theoretical framework of Antoine Berman, uses also the literary and linguistic theory to study the translation texts of this Chinese writer. In my research,I use close reading and contrastive analysis to discuss the following problems: translatability and untranslatability, translation and globality, contemporary Chinese literature and globalization. This paper consists of three parts:In the first chapter,I have made a general presentation of the characteristics of children's literature and of Cao Wenxuan's works; And for the second chapter,I have analysed the infinity of the original text, the heterogeneity of culture and the choice of translator on discussing works of Cao Wenxuan translated in France;in the last chapter, when analyzing the approaches of translation,I have discussed the global process of translation of children's literature and highlighted the mutual influence of translation and contemporary Chinese children's literature in order to answer the question: What is the relationship between Chinese literature and translation ?Finally,we can make a conclusion: Chinese children's literature is in great need of translation.Translation bridges contemporary Chinese children's literature and world literature. It contributes to the development of world literature.
