| This paper analizes Sato Issai’s DaXueLanWaiShu from the aspects of works cited, interpretive methods and the basic characteristics of its standpoints.According to the analyses,we can learn that, firstly,on the one hand,Issai experted many discourses which came from the Confucianists who take the members of Yangming School as their main part, lived in Ming or Qing Dynasty and were sceptical of Chu Hsi’s interpretation of DaXue,on the other hand,he expressed his own opinions by means of quoting and discussing the viewpoints which were mainly from Chu Hsi,Wang Yangming and some Confucianists who identified with Chu Hsi’s thought;Secondly,Issai used some interpretive methods which mainly include disproving the point of views from the Confucianists before him, connecting different parts of DaXue,citing other Confucian classics and doing researches on types of different texts to elucidate some controversial problems in the history of DaXue’s interpretation;Thirdly,Issai was opposed to the interpretation from Chu comprehensively by showing a tendency of approving Wang’s standpoints on the whole. With regard to the parts which had not been annotated adequately in Wang’s doctrine,he attempted to interprete them through elaborating on and supplementing the viewpoints of Wang, and adopting standpoints from other schools of thought. In summary,DaXueLanWaiShu demonstrates a pure Wang’s doctrine centred feature which is different from all Chu Hsi School’s,the Reconstructed School’s and other thought in Yangming School’s in the history of DaXue’s interpretation in the Edo period of Japan. |
