This English-Chinese translation report selects the novel Taxi!(1975)written by a Canadian feminist writer Helen Potrebenko,as the source text(pp.1-54 of the novel)to complete the translation practice task. The novel is influential in Canadian feminist literature, revealing various defects of capitalist society through the female protagonist Shannon's real experiences and narration.Yet the novel has no Chinese version so far. This translation report describes the three stages of the translation practice, including preparation before translation, process of translation, and refinement of the Chinese translation. The report summarizes the key points and difficulties in translating Taxi! as well as corresponding translation methods. The key points and difficulties mainly cover the translation at lexical and syntactic levels,as well as the aesthetic representation of the source language and images. The translation methods include conversion, choice of words' meaning, combination, division, amplification, omission, rewriting and imitation, which are used to solve the corresponding problems in the process of translation. This translation report summarizes the experience that the translator gained from this translation practice:(1)The translator needs to understand basic information of Canadian culture, the historical background of the original novel and the author's writing style.(2)The translator needs to have a rigorous academic attitude and select appropriate translation methods.(3)The translator should master solid knowledge of both English and Chinese, grasp professional translation skills, strengthen literary translation practice and improve translation ability continuously.
