The source text in this translation practice report is an excerpt of Asian Health Secrets by an American writer named Letha Hadady.People can easily find ways to enhance their body health condition with traditional Chinese medicine in the translated text,revealing the great charm of traditional Chinese culture to a large extent.The translator discusses translation difficulties and translation methods applied in this translation process.Translation difficulties include the difficulties at the lexical level and the syntactical level.At the lexical level,conversion of parts of speech,choosing word's meaning and annotation are used to make the readers have a better understanding of target text information.According to the characteristics of Chinese medical text,in order to ensure the fluency and accuracy of the sentence translation,the translator uses translation methods,including following the original syntactic order,division and combination and reinventing sentence structure to solve the problems in the syntactical level.The translator summarizes experience he has gained and lists unsolved problems in the translation practice.In the meantime the translator is well acquainted that some common words have special meanings in the medical text,and it is hoped that the translation practice would promote the dissemination of traditional Chinese medicine knowledge.
