Gu Sui had tried a lot of research and creation of a variety of literary form.In the aspect of ancient drama,Gu Sui had created six dramas according to the style of poetic drama in Yuan dynasty.This paper makes a preliminary study and analysis of his poetic dramas,and summarizes his ancient drama theory.In 1934,Gu Sui began to create poetic dramas.The themes of his poetic dramas may come from ancient novels,such as Yi Jian Zhi,Qingni Lianhua Ji and Liaozhai Zhiyi.Or from folklore,such as the love story Butterfly Lovers;Or from historical books,such as the biography of General Lee in Shi Ji.In addition,there are original story themes,too.Among the six dramas,The Old Buddhist Monk Enter Into Buddhism Once Again and Ma Langfu Sit On The Golden Beach And Pass Away contain the zen thought of "seeing the nature clearly,pointing straight at the heart".Zhu Yingtai Become A Butterfly and Climbing Mountains,Seeing The Sea In Spring followed The Dream of Red Mansion and Strange Tales from A Strange Studio's break through to the traditional theme of talented scholar and grace lady in three aspects: character image,love pattern and ending treatment.And Gu Sui also had innovation.The Foodie,The Scholar and General Lee Experienced Hundreds of War End up in Not Being A Marquis expressed the author of the secular feelings of catharsis.There are three types of the languages of the poetic dramas of Gu Sui.One is the philosophical language rich in zen thoughts,which is the most in the two plays of Old Monk and Ma Langfu.Second,the language with the characteristics of the Yuan poetic drama,throughout the play's spoken parts and lyrics.At the same time,the use of Yuan dialect,Yuan poetic drama allusions and reduplication;Third,the elegant and lucid language mostly used in the lyrics described the scenery.In the use of gong diao and qu pai,Gu Sui always composed music in accordance with the general use of the Yuan poetic drama,especially some of the famous cyclones,such as [Jiuzhuanhuolanger].In Spring Outing,Southern song's qu pai of the nature of "interlude" is added,which is relatively novel.This paper extracts and summarizes Gu Sui's theoretical viewpoints related to ancient drama in his works,handouts,letters and other texts.In terms of the creation of ancient drama,Gu Sui attached great importance to the elegance of lyrics,the ideological nature of works and the description of characters' psychology.In ancient drama criticism,Gu Sui always compared ancient drama with different styles and was influenced by modern western drama.Gu Sui's ancient drama research also has a series of achievements,including collection and collation of Yuan and Ming opera,study of Yuan opera dialect vocabulary,and recorded the folk Water Margin spread in Shandong province,which has certain academic value.
