Research On The Application Of Character Modeling Of Guantao Puppet Show In Stop-motion Animation

The puppet show,also known as the puppet opera,is one of the traditional Chinese arts.There are different types of puppets,such as marionette theater,rod-puppet theater,the bag puppets theater,the shadow puppets theater and so on.Most of the puppets evolved from the rod puppets,and the Guantao puppet belongs to it.The puppet in Guantao puppet play simplifies and sums up the elements of local folk opera art,such as faces,dresses,colors and so on.Afterwards,it combines the local folk aesthetics,engraving,color setting and painting to form a museum pottery stick puppet with northern aesthetic taste.Guantao puppet is simple,with bright and strong colors.The head carving is very particular about the size of the scale.Influenced by the structural characteristics of the puppet at the end of the rod puppet,the performer moves the sticks below the head and on both sides of the arm to perform.The movements of the puppets,which are exaggerated and humorous,depend on how the performers move the sticks.The performance formed a stylized routine.On the basis of analyzing the character modeling characteristics of Guantao puppet play,this paper tries to combine the character modeling of Guantao puppet play with the character modeling of custom animation and the artistic form of static animation.Excavating the combination of traditional folk art and digital media and presentation skills,thus enriching the traditional folk culture connotation in the fixed animation art and expanding the digital expression and dissemination of puppet opera indirectly.The main innovation of this paper is the combination of modeling,color and other elements in the art of Guantao puppet play and computing method.The performing form of fixed-frame animation tells the story of a girl who has different views on traditional culture from small to large.The difficult point of this paper is the modeling of puppet characters,how to combine the painting features with the character design in graduation design.After studying and researching.To creating a 16-minute staid animation,the role of graduation design borrowed experiences from the character modeling in Guantao puppet.The character modeling in the graduation project Drama in Dream took example from the character of the puppet show,not only maintains the artistic characteristics of puppet modeling of museum pottery,but also innovates the expression form of traditional art and enriches the content of fixed animation,which is significant to the inheritance of the folk puppet show and the diversity of custom animation style.
