Culture is expressed through language,and there is a rich cultural connotation behind any language in the world.Therefore,there is an inseparable relationship between language and culture.To learn a country’s language,you must first understand the culture of the country before you can better master the language.The Ministry of Education issued the "High School English New Curriculum Standards(Experiment)"(hereinafter referred to as "New Curriculum Standards")in2017,which puts forward the requirements for cultural teaching in the high school English stage,and clearly requires teachers to not only input language knowledge in the process of English teaching.Cultural knowledge makes students have a general understanding of culture,but also focuses on developing students’ cross-cultural awareness and ability.However,in the actual teaching process,most teachers still focus on language knowledge,and the introduction of cultural knowledge has not been highly valued.Based on the analysis of the current situation and future development of cultural introduction research at home and abroad,this thesis probes into the current situation of cultural introduction in Yan’an senior high school English teaching through questionnaires and interviews with teachers and students in a middle school,analyzing the problems and causes of culture introduction in senior high school English teaching,thus putting forward some feasible suggestions on the basis of Acculturation Model.This thesis probes into the current situation of cultural introduction in high school English teaching from the following aspects---the interest and attitude of teachers and students in cultural introduction in English teaching,the objective environment forcultural introduction,the obstacles to cultural introduction and the main ways for students to learn cultural knowledge.According to the survey results,most teacher have clearly recognized the importance of cultural introduction and have changed their teaching ideas.However,some problems exist in the actual teaching process: the insufficient understanding of the cultural introduction of high school English teaching;the lack of the teachers’ cultural literacy;the pessimistic environment for implementing English cultural introduction.But there are many reasons for the problems,such as the lack of management in cultural teaching in schools;the teachers’ neglect of English cultural teaching and the drawbacks of educational system,the students’ lack of interest in learning cultural knowledge in English language,the gap between teaching practice and teaching ideas,and the need to improve the methods of cultural introduction in teaching.The following suggestions are put forward for the problems found in the research:in-depth study of the content of teaching materials;introduction of multicultural knowledge;improvement of teachers’ teaching level;improvement of teachers’ teaching quality;creation of pleasant learning environment;improvement of cultural introduction and implementation environment;establishment of professional courses and high quality Cultural resources platform.In short,only through various efforts can we provide the possibility to effectively carry out cultural introduction teaching in English teaching,create favorable conditions to cultivate more cross-cultural talents,and work hard to help students better learn language.
