The Parthenon Temple is one of the most famous sanctuaries in ancient Greece and was built for the worship of Athena, the goddess of Athens. The first Great Panathenaea were held during the rule of Peisistratos in 566 BC and the meaning of the worship of Athena became gradually more important. The Panathenaic Games did not only include religious festivals, athletic competitions and cultural events hosted within a stadium, but also contain ceremonies(including prize-giving).Its treasures are the responsibility of the tamiai entrusted each year. Before leaving, they had submit an annual inventory to the next tamiai.Every year the list was engraved on stone, forming the inscription on the accounts of the Parthenon.Based on the existing academic achievements, this thesis translates and studies the inscriptions on the accounts of the Parthenon from 434 BC to 404 BC.It consists of three parts: firstly,it introduces the historical background of Parthenon and its accounts;secondly, based on Lewis' s "IG",translated and commentated;finally, discuss the writing characteristics of the inscriptions and the overview of the treasures. The study shows that the inscriptions show two types of accumulation, conventional and unconventional. The proportion of gold and silver in its offerings highlights the prevalence of silver at that time, and the type of treasures reflects the economic situation.
