With the rapid development of society,English has become an international language of social communication,which commands of the learners with a higher English level.During the English teaching,writing plays a great role in present English learning and teaching field because it is not only the teaching objective and teaching method but also is one of the invaluable standards for the assessment of English teaching quality.The National English Curriculum for Senior High Schools(New Trial)(launched by the Chinese Ministry of Education)makes clear requirements of the teaching aims.However,the traditional writing approach,the Product Approach,has dominated in China for a long time,which emphasizes the teacher’s teaching role but ignores the learners’ subjective initiative,which goes against with the student-centered teaching concept as well as the English language teaching rules.Having learnt that the Process Genre Approach(PGA)has been proved to be an effective language writing teaching strategy,the author applied it into her school referring to the relevant literatures so as to develop the students’ writing ability.The research aims to put forward two research questions as the following:1)How can PGA have an positive influence on senior students’ awareness and attitude in their English writing? 2)How can PGA improve senior students’ English writing proficiency? To answer the two questions,the effects of PGA were applied to the research by the author through tests,questionnaires,interviews,and observation.The 36 students of Class 9,Senior 2 in Bi Jie Lan Yuan Senior High School were chosen as the subjects and the teaching practice was scheduled to last for 5 months through a semester-long PGA writing teaching.After the research,the author gathered relevant research data to make an analysis and comparison about it by Microsoft Excel,and results were shown as the following: PGA can not only have a positive influence on students’ awareness,interests and attitude on writing,but also can activate their proper usage of text genres and the linking of textual structure;PGA can develop students’ English writing capacity effectively and strengthen the students’ comprehensive English ability.
