This report is based on the translation of texts concerning China-Africa economic development.Through the analysis of linguistic features, the translator finds that various rhetorical devices are often used in economic texts for vivid effects so as to arouse readers’ interest. In the process of translation, the translator encountered some problems in the efforts to reproduce the vividness in the original texts, and these problems are recorded and carefully analyzed. This paper mainly focuses on the analysis and translation of two rhetorical devices: metaphor and transferred epithet.Metaphors are subdivided into semi-implicit metaphors and implicit metaphors while transferred epithets are further put into human-to-object and object-to-object categories.Different translation methods are chosen, such as literal translation, extension, amplification,or explanation,in order to reproduce the vividness of the original language and help readers understand the texts correctly.Through the translation practice, the translator has a better understanding of African economic texts, and has improved translation ability. It is hoped that the translation methods summarized can provide some reference for translators engaged in economic texts translation.
