Representation Of The Author’s Style In Biographical Text Translation

This practice report is based on the translation practice of five chapters in the biography,She Captains.It records the life stories of many female characters in the history of navigation.The author with distinctive writing style is good at using register deviation and figure of speech to create the characters’ images.How to represent the author’s style is an important task in the translation of this practice.Guided by Liu Miqing’s stylistic translation theory,this paper makes style visible through stylistic marker,and chooses register marker and figure of speech marker for case analysis.The style translation will be accomplished through three conversion methods:corresponding,recasting and decolouring.Through the translation and analysis,the translator realized that translation is not only a word-for-word or sentence-for-sentence transformation,and the translation without style is unqualified.Applying the stylistic marker theory to biographical texts can not only solve translation problems encountered by translators in this practice,but also provide references for other translators.
