An E-C Translation Report Of Business Contract Under The Guidance Of Skopos Theory

As the advance of the integration of the world,international business exchanges have been enlarged,which call for increasing business contracts.Business contracts consist of rights,obligation,risks,etc,which play the role of protecting rights and restricting involved parties.Hence,the translation of business contracts has attracted more and more attention.Many scholars have made a great many studies on that,many of which are guided by theories such as functional equivalence and register theory.Therefore,the author chooses another theory—Skopos theory as guidance of study.Besides,since business contracts have strong purposiveness,adopting Skopos theory could promote the translation quality.The author selects 10,000 words of a franchise business contract commissioned by Guangzhou Xiamo Translation Co.,Ltd.for analyzing.With the guidance of Skopos theory,the problems encountered in translation and the solutions are discussed.The report consists of five chapters.The first chapter gives a brief introduction to the background and significance of this translation project,and summarizes the structure of the report.The second chapter introduces the theoretical basis of the translation,and combines the theory with translation of business contract.The third chapter specifically describes the entire process of translation,including pre-translation,translation and proofreading.The fourth chapter is the key part of this report.From lexical,syntactical and textual levels,it analyzes the representative cases that have emerged in the translation practice under the guidance of Skopos theory.The last chapter gives a summary to the entire report,and also concludes experience,suggestions,etc..
