It is a relatively new perspective to compare Chinese and Thai from the perspective of spatial motion event.With the modern Chinese verb-direction form "V-up" as the reference point,the relationship between Chinese and Thai verb-direction form "V-up" and the expression of motion event can be described in detail,and the incomplete corresponding situation and internal reasons of Chinese dynamic form "V-up" in Thai can be explained more clearly.Well,is there any rule to follow for the expression of Chinese directional complement "up" in Thai? If so,what is the corresponding relationship between them? And what are the underlying reasons for this phenomenon? This paper attempts to describe and analyze the structure of "V-up" in Chinese from the perspective of spatial motion event,in an attempt to answer the above questions.The semantic change of Chinese verb-direction form "V-up" is a process of gradual extension and grammaticalization from displacement meaning to result meaning to tense and aspect meaning to modality meaning.Based on the comparative analysis of the Chinese verb-direction form "V-up" and its corresponding Thai expressions in terms of semantic features,combination and collocation,and sentence structure,this paper finds that "V-up" and its corresponding Thai expressions usually take the form of one-to-many expression.the semantic features and grammatical functions of Thai verb-direction form "(?)"(up)are not rich as Chinese,"(?)"(up)mainly expression displacement meaning and some tense and aspect meaning;Has no result meaning and modality meaning.However,in the expression result meaning and modality meaning also whose self being system,has its byelaw.Sentence pattern also has the obvious corresponding laws,the main difference is that the object position is different;And negative words position is differentof;And different forms of "?" expression corresponding to different positions.Through the above comparative analysis,the similarities and differences between the thinking mode and the mechanism of metaphor of the Chinese and Thai nationalities are revealed,at the same time,The research results have practical guiding significancefor Chinese-Thai translation.
