Did you choose to pursue a job or continue to pursue a degree to get a better job After graduating? We often need to make choices about things like this at different time point in our lives. This is a hot topic in the decision-making field in recent years,“ intertemporal choice”.Intertemporal choice is made by individuals after weighing the gains and losses on different time point.Intertemporal choice preference plays an important role in people's decision quality.Previous studies have found that procrastination affects people's preferences of intertemporal choices, and academic procrastination are the main form of undergraduates' procrastination.Intertemporal choices in real life often require individuals to make a decisions within a certain time limit.Based on this, there is great practical significance to explore the impact of academic procrastination and time pressure on intertemporal choice. In this study, undergraduates were selected as the research object. The Aitken procrastination inventory was used to divide undergraduates into academic procrastination group and non-academic procrastination group.Afterwards, the A new active procrastination scale was used to further divide the undergraduates into active procrastination groups and passive procrastination group. The study is include two experiments.Experiment 1 uses the money intertemporal choice paradigm under the occupational situation, and uses the reaction time and the delayed discount rate as the dependent variable to explore the influence of academic procrastination and time pressure on the intertemporal choice of undergraduates.Experiment 2 uses the money intertemporal choice paradigmIn and ERP technology, and uses the reaction time, discount rate and EEG indicators as dependent variables to explore the impact of procrastination type and time pressure on undergraduates' intertemporal choice and its neural mechanism.Based on the experimental conditions, the conclusions are as follows:(1)The main effect of academic procrastination is significant.Non-academic procrastination group undergraduates are more likely delay rewards than academic procrastination group. The procrastination type has a significant main effect, and active procrastination groups prefers to delay rewards than passive procrastination group.Impulsive discount hypothesis and self-regulated learning theory were verified respectively.(2)The main effect of time pressure is significant.Under the time pressure, undergraduates prefer to delay reward then under no time pressure. In Experiment 2,undergraduates induced higher N4 amplitudes under the time pressure than no time pressure. The selective decision strategy under time pressure is verified.(3)Academic procrastination have significant interaction effect with time pressure.Academic procrastination undergraduates are more likely delay rewards under conditions of time pressure than the conditions of no time pressure.Non-Academic procrastination undergraduates' intertemporal choices have no difference with or without time pressure. The type of procrastination have significant interaction effect with time pressure.Passive procrastination undergraduates prefers delayed rewards under time pressure then under conditions of no time pressure, and induces a larger N2 amplitude under time pressure. There is no difference in the active procrastination groups' intertemporal choices with or without time pressure, and there is no difference in N2 volatility.
