As a way of cooperative learning,Jigsaw Method has gradually been favored by researchers from different teaching fields in recent years,and has attracted wide attention in English reading teaching.As a supplement to the traditional teaching method,this thesis will explore a new teaching method of English reading in senior high school through tests,questionnaires and interviews.The first chapter introduces the research background and some problems in English reading teaching in China.In the second chapter,the author elaborates the research status at home and abroad of the Jigsaw Method,which shows that it is feasible to use Jigsaw Method in English reading teaching in senior high schools.The third chapter defines the concept of Jigsaw Method and elaborates the theoretical basis of this study: the theory of the zone of proximal development and the theory of constructivism.In Chapter Four,the author adopts a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods to carry out the research in senior high school English reading teaching from the perspective of Jigsaw Method.The fifth chapter expounds the application advantages and the problems found in the application of the Jigsaw Method in English reading teaching in senior high schools.At the same time,the author elaborates the solutions to these problems.In the sixth chapter,the author elaborates the research results and teaching inspiration of this study,and reflects on the inadequacies of this thesis and prospects for future research.In addition,this study takes place in Harbin No.1 middle school in Harbin,choosing class 6 and class 7 in Grade two as the experimental subjects(class 7 is the control class,class 6 is the experimental class).It lasted for 16 weeks.During the experiment the control class still uses the original teaching method,but the experimental class is trained with Jigsaw Method.The author uses pre-test and post-test,questionnaire and interview as the research tools,and makes a comparative analysis of the pre-test and post-test results of the experimental class and the control class with the help of SPSS22.0.The purpose of this study is to study whether the application of Jigsaw Method in senior high school English reading class will improve students' reading achievement and further improve students' self-efficacy.With the help of SPSS22.0,the author makes a comparative analysis of the English reading scores of the experimental class and the control class,and conducts a questionnaire survey and interview records analysis on the students' self-efficacy after the study.The author finds that the application of the Jigsaw Method in senior English reading teaching is effective,and the application of the Jigsaw Method in senior English reading class really improves the students' English reading achievement,and further improves students' sense of self-efficacy.Students have confidence in doing English reading,when they encountered difficulties in English reading,they believe that they can overcome and are willing to overcome difficulties.The author hopes that this study can provide some new ideas for senior high school English reading teaching and make English reading teaching and learning more effective.
