Edward ?'s conquest of Wales was extremely important in his political career. The Welsh area is ideally located that Snowdia Mountain is a natural barrier, and Anglesey is a granary area that provides a wealth of resources for Wales. There is a long-term political connection between England and Wales.William I set up a border in the Welsh area and assigned competent officials to the borders of Wales to form a certain degree of control in this way. With the development of the towns and estates in the Welsh borders,Marcher Lords have grown stronger and political autonomy of Wales has gradually emerged.England in the 13 th century was in the process of forming a nation-state.Edward ? had strong military abilities and political ambitions that commensurate with his military ability. Therefore his conquest of Wales was inevitable.Llewellyn the Last refused to attend the coronation ceremony of Edward ? was regarded as a challenge to the English monarchy, which led to the first Welsh war.Edward ? launched four wars in order to conquer Wales. The result was a complete conquest of Wales. This article is divided into three parts to elaborate on the issues related to the Welsh War.The outbreak of the first Welsh war was stressful and was a punishment for the refusal of Llewellyn the Last to attend the coronation ceremony of Edward ?.At this time, the domestic war reserve was not sufficient,so Edward ?'s expectation of the first Welsh war was punishment, not conquest. The main force of the royal family of Edward ? and the three armies led by him led to the coercion of Llewellyn the Last, and finally succeeded in occupying Gwnedd. The first Welsh war ended with the victory of the England. The nature of the second Welsh war was active conquest. The victory of the first war made Edward ? see the possibility of fully conquering Wales, when David launched a riot, and Edward ? went to Wales to calm the riots. This war strategy was roughly the same as the first one,and finally realized the full conquest of Edward ? in form. The third Welsh war was to suppress the uprising and the uprising was quickly suppressed. The fourth Welsh war ended with the victory of Edward ? and the Welsh issue wascompletely resolved. In the process of suppressing this uprising, and at the same time facing the pressure from France,Edward ? was forced to make adjustments and concentrate the military on the Welsh issue,so that it could be completely solved. The fourth Welsh wars lasted for a long time and the expenses were huge, which caused the post-war crisis of 1297.This crisis is partly an economic crisis.
