With the development of informationization of social life and integration of global economy,English is becoming more and more important as an international language,and its oral expression is particularly important.The newly revised English Curriculum Standards for Primary Schools in 2011 further clarifies the importance of oral English communicative competence and points out that cultivating primary school students' oral English competence is one of the main objectives of English teaching in primary schools.Primary school is the best time for students to learn language.Senior grade is the key two years for students to learn English in primary school.Students begin to have the ability of abstract logical thinking and master the method of learning language more skillfully.Therefore,it is very important to strengthen the cultivation of students' oral English ability at the senior stage of primary school.However,at present,our country is influenced by many factors of traditional English teaching mode.There are many problems in the process of oral English teaching in primary schools,including the problems of teachers and students.Taking H Primary School as an example,this study investigates and studies the present situation of oral English teaching in the senior grades of this school by using the methods of literature,questionnaire,interview and classroom observation,and analyses the existing problems.Guided by the theories of Vygotsky's Recent Development Zone,Constructivist Learning Theory,Krashen's Second Language Acquisition Theory and Chomsky's Language Theory,it is designed for the senior pupils in primary school.The improvement of spoken English ability and the effectiveness of teachers' spoken English teaching provide some suggestions for reference.The main contents of this paper are as follows:Part 1: The introduction mainly includes questions,research significance,literature review,definition of core concepts,theoretical basis,research ideas,research methods and research innovations.Part 2: The first chapter investigates and analyses the oral English learning situation of the senior students in H Primary School and the teachers' oral Englishteaching situation from the perspective of students by questionnaire survey from eight perspectives: students' oral learning attitude,learning motivation,classroom feeling,effect testing and evaluation,output ability level,learning psychology,learning environment and learning problems.This study also combines interviews with front-line teachers and classroom observations to comprehensively understand the problems existing in oral English teaching in the senior grades of the primary school.Part 3: The second chapter analyses the causes of the problems in oral English teaching in the senior grades of H Primary School.It is found that there are some problems in students' oral English teaching,such as the lack of English language elements,psychological barriers to oral English expression and the lack of a good English conversational environment and so on.Teachers' problems include insufficient understanding of the new curriculum standards and insufficient attention paid to oral English teaching and so on.Part 4: The third chapter is to change the present situation of oral English teaching in H elementary school.This study puts forward effective strategies from three levels: school,teachers and students,hoping to help the development of oral English teaching in primary school.Part 5: This part summarizes the research and points out the shortcomings and future research directions.
