Writing is an important manifestation of overall English language competence of learners as well as an important part of English language teaching. In the traditional writing teaching practice, learners usually obtain a mere score on the papers, and they have no idea about the reason, process and significance of such a score. What's more, teachers and students have few communications,so do the learners themselves. With the constant development of science and technology, flipped classroom has emerged as a new teaching mode.It can arouse the enthusiasm of students, meet the students' personalized needs, which to a certain extent makes up for the shortcomings of the traditional teaching mode.Although the best way to learn how to write is still in the stage of discussion, studies have shown that "reading + writing" is an effective way to improve students' writing skills. This research will introduce the teaching concepts and methods of flipped classroom into the teaching of writing, and carry out the practice of continuation tasks.Based on successful cases of flipped classroom at home and abroad, this research carries out the continuation tasks in the flipped classroom model. There were 62 Grade 9 students in all who were allocated into the experimental group and the control group, and this research has been 12 weeks teaching experiment.Students are asked to write an at-least-80 word ending after reading a story with its ending removed respectively.Students' writing was tested before and after the experiment by independent t-test,and analyzed in three aspects: complexity, accuracy and frequency through online software Aihaiyang and VocabProfile. The results showed: 1)The writing score of the experimental group was significantly better than that of the control group, and was better than that of the control group in both low and high scores.2)The complexity and frequency of the experiment group was better than that of the control group, while the accuracy of students' writing between the two groups was almost the same.3)The students of experimental group were aware of the importance of developing good writing habits and gained confidence at a great extent. It is suggested that teachers apply flipped classroom into continuation tasks more often, and provide students with more exercises, which will strengthen their writing abilities.
