A Study On The Historical Of Xia Zengyou

Xia Zengyou is one of the trailblazers of China's The New Historiography in modern age,whose academic experience and achievements are the most representative cases in our study of the transformation of traditional Chinese historiography into modern one.Xia Zengyou has a comprehensive and meticulous research on the political,ethnic and social aspects of ancient China.He incorporated the thought of New Text into the theory of evolution and used it to guide the study of its history in China,and put forward many new historical opinions.The purpose of Xia Zengyou's writing of history books is to save the country and to seek ways to cure the disease by exploring the source of the disease in modem China,and to popularize the Chinese history knowledge as a means to stimulate the patriotic and national spirit of the people.The book of Zhongguo gu dai shi written by Xia Zengyou has made breakthroughs and innovations in the aspects of Historical sources,historical opinions as well as content selection,compilation form and method of historical books.The book experienced a long time without decline,and enlightened a lot of students interested in learning in the late Qing and early Republican.Xia Zengyou made an important contribution to the development of modern Chinese historiography.Of course,there are also some limitations in the historiography of Xia,such as imperfect theoretical framework,selected materials extensive,inaccurate textual criticism,subjective and important historical facts have not been included and so on.
