| With the continuous development of society and the constant changes in the field of education,the reform of English curriculum has already been performing in the field of basic education.As a result,more and more attention has been paid to the educational function of the English subject in the respect of the implementation of the fundamental tasks of strengthening moral education and cultivating people,aiming to cultivate the core literacy of students’ English course.Ordinary High School English Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)is the programmatic guidance document for high school English teaching in China at present.As one of the most inportant part of it,its role of the core literacy of English can be seen by itself,which mainly includes the following four aspects: language competence,cultural awareness,trait of thinking and learning ability.The learning ability is considered the development condition that constitutes the core literacy of English course.Therefore,we need to pay attention to the cultivation of students’ learning ability throughout the implementation of English curriculum,which constitutes a basis for students’ lifelong development.At the same time,this paper consults the relevant literature and finds that most of the literature is about the study of students’ autonomous learning ability,and there are few studies on students’ English learning ability.Therefore,based on the core literacy of English course,the author studies the current situation and existing problems of the English learning ability of students in a senior high school in Hanzhong City,and puts forward suggestions for cultivating students’ English learning ability.First of all,the author summarizes the core literacy,the core literacy of the course,the core literacy of the English course,and the meaning of learning ability by consulting relevant literature and combining the related concepts in Ordinary High School English Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition).The current research status of related concepts,as well as the theoretical basis of this research,include constructivist learning theory,humanistic learning theory,and learning strategies.Secondly,the author starts from the definition of learning ability under the core literacy of English course,and conducts a questionnaire survey on students in a senior high school from three aspects: learning strategy,learning resource channel and learning efficiency.After sorting out the data,it is found that the current situation of the students’ English learning ability is not ideal.There is still a big gap between the requirements of the new curriculum standards for the English learning ability of high school students.Among them,the problems of students are: poor understanding of learning strategies and poor use;access to learning resources is relatively simple and lacking;and learning efficiency is relatively low.There are problems in teachers: their professional knowledge and literacy are still lacking;the use of teaching materials is not flexible enough to mobilize students’ interest in English learning;the teaching methods lack diversity;the subject and basis of teaching evaluation are not diversified.In the questionnaire analysis,the author also designed interviews between students and teachers for the problems found in the questionnaire.Through the interviews,the deep-seated causes of these problems are analyzed.Finally,for the students and teachers questionnaires and problems found in the interviews,the author puts forward a series of constructive suggestions for the English textbook writing department,the English teachers and students.It is hoped that it can be used as a reference for improving the related aspects of English learning ability of high school students. |
