| Chen Zengshou is a representative poet in the late Tongguang period.After the Qing Dynasty,he did not serve the Republic of China and became an adherent of the Qing Dynasty.He hade made great achievements in poetry,once comparable to those of Chen Sanli and Chen Baochen.However,because of his political standpoint,his literary achievements have been ignored by future generations.Starting with Chen Zengshou’s mentality as an adherent of the Qing Dynasty,this paper analyses his poetic views,themes,imagery and the styles of his poems,so as to further analyze the content of Chen Zengshou’s poetry and his complex psychological journey as a last-generation adherent。The first chapter mainly analyses the reasons for the formation of Chen Zengshou’s mentality and its manifestation.Firstly,Simply combing the concept of adherents of the former dynasty and defining Chen Zengshou’s mentality and performance as an adherent of the Qing Dynasty,and focus on the historical tradition,family and society to analyze the origin of the formation of Chen Zengshou’s mentality.The second chapter mainly discusses Chen Zengshou’s poetics.Although Chen Zengshou does not have any special works on poetry,he can also see his views on poetry from some simple and scattered data.The proposition of these poetic concepts is also closely related to the life experience of the Qing Dynasty’s adherents.Chen Zengshou advocated that Song poetry should be the main part and should be supplemented by Tang poetry.Under this general tendency,it also puts forward the aesthetic standards of "poetry is precious and true","poetry is meaningful" and "flavor poetic is criterion ".These poetic concepts are mostly in harmony with the theories of the predecessors,so that poetry can not only express the complex emotions and broad social content of the poets in the special period of the late Qing Dynasty,but also have the pursuit of the artistry of poetry,reflecting the harmonious poetic concepts.Under the influence of these poetic concepts,Chen Zengshou’s poetry style also shows its unique color.The third chapter mainly studies the influence of Chen Zengshou’s mentality on his poetry creation.The first section mainly analyses Chen Zengshou’s poetry theme.The theme of his poems is mainly expressed in his grief at the loss of his country,his longing for seclusion and his endless repentance for life.These themes not only reflect the general psychology of the Qing Dynasty’s adherents,but also have their unique feelings.The second section mainly chooses chrysanthemum,flower falling,ant,dream,temple,tea,incense and other images which can best represent the mentality of Chen Zengshou’s as a adherents,and analyses the contradiction between Chen Zengshou’s ideal and reality as a last generation of adherents.The third section mainly analyses the style of Chen Zengshou’s poems.Due to the difference of personality and experience,and the influence of Chen Zengshou’s poetics,Chen’s poetry has obvious personal style.Specifically embodied in the expression of deep ambition,emotional depression and desolation,profound and remote artistic conception,make its poetry unique charm. |
