In the English teaching classroom,one of the most essential methods to improve students' output technique is writing.Among four skills in English language learning,writing is being regarded as the most comprehensive,essential and useful skill for students.Therefore,one of the most important goals for English teacher is trying to improve students' English composition writing competence.But in actual writing teaching,traditional writing teaching approach is still prevalent in some schools.Adopting such an outdated approach is little help to improve writing competence,and it does not meet the New Curriculum requirement.In this research,an English writing teaching approach,Genre-Process Approach,is used in junior high school English writing lesson.And the research mainly solves the following problems:(1)What are the effects of Genre-Process Approach on junior high school students' writing competence?(2)What are the attitude changes in English writing after applying the Genre-Process Approach?To verify the teaching effect of Genre-Process Approach,this research uses comparative teaching experiments and writing tests among 70 students in 2 classes of junior high school,Grade 2.In the research,70 students are divided into 2groups-experiment class(EC)and control class(CC),one is taught English writing by Genre-Process Approach,while the other is taught by Product Approach.The writing test is used to check the learning effect of the students,and its results will analyzed by SPSS 21.0.Through analyzing the result,it can be concluded that students' writing proficiency is improved and the learning effect under Genre-Process Approach is much better than Product Approach.Students can be stimulated in such democratic English writing teaching atmosphere.Also,students can learn how to solve a difficult problem with classmates' cooperation.What is most important is that students can transfer the writing knowledge they have gained in class to solve some real life problems.
