Xunzi’s Political And Ethical Thoughts Historical Impact Study

Xunzi was a master of Confucianism in the warring states period.He formed a set of Confucian school of thought,which had both the theory of virtue and the theory of normative behavior.This paper focuses on the political ethics of xunzi and its historical influence,constructs the political ethics of xunzi from a new perspective,and correctly understands the historical influence of xunzi’s thought.This paper is divided into the following and part of the discussion.Xunzi,as a thinker at the end of the warring states period in China,was in a period of great social unrest,unbalanced economic development,great difference in cultural development and unstable political form.Therefore,xunzi’s political and ethical thought reflects the current social situation and improvement countermeasures at that time.Xunzi’s thought is the integration and development of the thoughts of the various schools of thought in the pre-qin period.Xunzi’s main political and ethical ideas are: the concept of heaven and man,the theory of human nature,the concept of propriety and law,the concept of people-oriented.Xunzi put forward in the "concept of heaven and man" that the operation of all things has its inevitable law,the separation of heaven and man,rejected ghosts and gods,can not blindly superstition.But at the same time also must communicate with the day,should the day but governs,the executive must adopt the correct governance way.Xunzi put forward the theory of evil nature and established the foundation of human nature."Li" is the core of xunzi’s political and ethical thought.Xunzi’s concept of people-oriented admonished the monarch to comply with the situation of the people,the people is the foundation of the country,to provide the king for the people.Xunzi also put forward the social governance method of group living and unity,which can effectively maintain the social order.Xunzi’s political and ethical thought has great historical influence.We should affirm the historical status of xunzi’s political and ethical thought.Xunzi’s theory of evil nature,the rule of propriety and righteousness,and the people-oriented thought all had an important influence on Confucianism.Moreover,it had a great impact on the political practice in ancient China,making Confucianism a constant ritual form of ancient Chinese officials.Xunzi’s political and ethical thoughts have made great contributions to the later generations of China.
