Private lending was an extremely common economic phenomenon in the traditional period of China, which has a long history with the development of human society.Compared with official lending, private lending has the characteristics of flexibility, convenience, diversity of types and wide sources of funds, which plays an important role in maintaining the production and life of the grassroots and promoting social and economic development. This paper explores the overall situation of Huizhou's private lending in the Qing Dynasty, the main forms of private lending and the development level of the lending interest rate, and then investigates the impact of private lending on the social and economic development of Huizhou. This is undoubtedly of great value in the study of social and economic history. Therefore, from the perspective of lending interest rate, this paper tries to grasp the overall situation and changing trend of Huizhou private lending in the Qing Dynasty by combing the original contract documents. In the Qing Dynasty,Huizhou's overall lending interest rate was low and the range of change was limited, which promoted the further development of Huizhou's commodity currency economy and stimulated the more active private lending in Huizhou.Although usury still exists within a certain range,Huizhou's lending rates have remained basically stable for a long time. The phenomenon of private lending is not only a social history but also an important subject in the study of economic history. From the perspective of interest rate, this paper analyzes the interest rate from the multi-angle and multi-period.This provides another way to study the economic and social reality of Huizhou in the Qing Dynasty and the development and changes of Huizhou society.
