This thesis is a Chinese-English translation practice report. The Private Lending Crisis in Wenzhou, published in 2012, was jointly compiled by Hu Fangsong and Lin Jianqiang, and the eighth chapter Danger Signal was selected as the practice material of the report. The section mainly describes various private lending cases occurring beside Wenzhou, including Dongguan, Taizhou, Erdos, Shenmu and other places.Through the translation task, the author of this thesis also hopes that more people will have a better understanding on the issue of private lending, and make a sensible decision when considering investing in private lending. Besides, the author of this thesis hopes that the problems of private lending can absorb the attention of the society, and the government will implement measures to regulate the private lending market. What’s more, it can make people aware of the possibility of occurrence of the real estate bubble, affecting the healthy development of China’s economy. The Domestication Theory, put forward by Lawrence Venuti in 1990s, is the guiding principle during the translation. The main body of the thesis contains the description of the translation task, the process of the translation, and the four major difficulties, including translation of the financial terms, translation of colloquial expressions, translation of proverbs, and translation of four-character phrases, as well as the corresponding methods. The Last Part sums up the inspiration and lessons learned from the translation practice, and some problems still need to be solved in the future. Firstly, before the translation started, we must be fully prepared for it, and learn carefully about the author of the book, as well as the knowledge related to the original text. Secondly, for the names, places and unknown phrases, translator has to frequently consult the dictionary or other people, so as to translate the original text accurately. Finally, due to cultural differences, Chinese and foreigners have great differences in thinking, so if one wants to become a qualified translator, it is necessary for each to strive to improve their English skills through reading more Chinese and foreign classics and doing a lot of training and translation practice.
