“Internet+” has brought unprecedented changes to education.Pigaiwang,an automated writing evaluation online platform,has been increasingly applied into English writing scoring in colleges.Formative evaluation is becoming more and more popular as a new evaluating method in education.Based on the background of educational reform,facing the contradictions in teaching,this paper innovatively combines the “Internet+” teaching environment with formative evaluation,applies the two to college English writing teaching,constructs and verifies the formative evaluation model of “Internet+” college English writing,in order to provide new ideas and solutions for solving problems in current college English writing teaching.This paper introduces the background,the purpose,the significance and the proposed problem,and gives the feasibility analysis.It expounds the constructivist theory and the multi-intelligence theory framework of the research.Through reviewing related literature and previous works,it introduces the concept,research development and status quo of the “Internet+”,formative evaluation,and the automatic evaluation system represented by Pigaiwang.Formative evaluation model of “Internet+” college English writing is designed based on Pigaiwang.The evaluation index and scoring standard of college English writing are determined.A reliability test of Pigaiwang,a control experiment,a questionnaire survey and an interview are conducted to assess the validity of the model.The study believes that the reliability of Pigaiwang is ideal in terms of scoring,but not ideal in terms of feedback,and Pigaiwang should be used in combination with manual evaluation.The study believes that the “Internet+” college English writing formative evaluation model has a more positive effect on teaching than traditional teaching and evaluation model.This paper gets conclusion from three respects.From the perspective of students,the model improves students' especially the underachievers' English writing,improves their English writing attitude,develops their writing interests,enhances their writing confidence,improves their writing enthusiasm,improves their learning methods,improves their writing skills,and develops English literacy.From the perspective of teachers,this model mitigates unnecessary evaluation burden which enables teachers to make rational use of their working time and energy to improve their teaching skills.From an educational perspective,the model changes traditional teaching and evaluation methods,enriches teaching methods,improves teaching quality and efficiency,promotes the transformation of teachers' roles,and conduces to the reform and development of college English education.
