On The Consciousness Of Postmodernism In The Works Of Akutagawa Ryunosuke

The paper analyzes the works and creation style of Akutagawa Ryunosuke through postmodernist theory,proving that there are postmodernism characteristics and postmodernism consciousness in his literary works.This paper probes into the causes of the internationalization of Akutagawa’s literature and the internationalization of its studies.Uncertainty,unexpressiveness and non-expressiveness and criticalness are the three main characteristics of postmodernism.This paper uses the theoretical mechanism of these three characteristics to study the works of Akutagawa Ryunosuke and to demonstrate the postmodernism consciousness of the literature.The thesis is divided into five chapters.The first chapter describes the purpose and significance of the thesis,introducing the research situation at home and abroad.The second chapter summarizes the connotation of post-modernism,introducing the connotation of uncertainty,non-expressiveness and nonexpressiveness,criticalness,which provide the relevant theoretical basis for the thesis.The third chapter demonstrates the uncertainty characteristics in the novel from the three angles of character image,ideological activity and plot.The uncertainty of the character image is mainly expressed by subverting the idolatry image of the traditional character and portraying the contradiction and complexity of the character.The representative works include Kesa and Seienn,Maid’s Chronicle,Momotarou,General Jin and Mother,Ugly Masquerade,Recompense and so on.The uncertainty of ideological activities is mainly expressed by the different psychology in different time and space and at different levels of consciousness.The representative works include Autumn,Feel Uncertain,etc.The uncertainty of plot is mainly through the contradictory,open and magic story plot.The representative works include Bamboo Forest,Rasyoumonn,Autumn Scenery and so on.The fourth chapter studies the unexpressiveness and non-expressiveness of characters in Akutagawa’s literature,such as characters,psychological activities and plot,by analyzing Scene of Hell,Dream,Bamboo Forest,and so on.A brief explanation of the expression skills,narrative strategies and language styles used in the display of unexpressive and non-expressive characters,psychological activities,plot,etc.The chapter discusses the characteristics and artistic effects of these expressive skills and narrative strategies in writing.The fifth Chapter studies critical spirit in the Literary works of Akutagawa Ryunosuke from the four aspects of the characters’ image,ideology and culture,novel plot and self criticism.The influence of skepticism and critical spirit on his works and life was discussed.The postmodernism consciousness is prescient in Akutagawa Ryunosuke’s works,which is related to the author’s education,growing environment and the background of the times.The literature of Akutagawa Ryunosuke can be prevalent in the world,which is related to the charm of literature and the rise of the trend of postmodernism.This paper breaks through the limitation of studying Akutagawa’s literature against the background of traditional oriental culture,probes into the literature of Akutagawa with the world cultural background of Western and Oriental,excavating the charm and value of literature of Akutagawa,and probing into the reason of internationalization of literature of Akutagawa.
