With the deepening of China's opening up to the outside world and the gradual deepening of economic cooperation between China and foreign countries,many foreign companies have established branches in China.In addition,the number of Sino-foreign joint ventures is also increasing.In order to regulate the international image of the company and to train and manage Chinese employees,it is particularly necessary to introduce the employee handbook from the foreign company as the advanced management method.This report takes the translation practice of Sunrise's employee handbook as an example to analyze the difficulties and corresponding translation strategies and methods of the regulatory texts like the employee handbook in the process of Chinese translation.Firstly,this paper introduces the source of this translation practice from a Chinese-foreign enterprise cooperation project,and summarizes the selection of translation texts and translation strategies at home and abroad as well as the research on the translation of employee handbook texts,pointing out the singularity of its research methods and the text lacks details and other inadequacies,and then go into the various research methods and analysis of the words and discourses.Secondly,the paper describes the research methods of this paper,including the qualitative research and the quantitative research and a combination of the two.The former finds the terms,sentences and discourses of the same nature in the translation by comparing and summarizing,and the latter is mainly used for the collection of domestic and foreign literature.Thirdly,it introduces the pre-translation work,including the selection of bilingual parallel texts at home and abroad,the determination of lexicon and computer translation software,the production of glossary,translation and post-translation work,time translation schedule and translation and review.Thirdly,this report regards the legal terminology and workplace terminology in the text as the lexical features.The passive sentences and the long difficult sentences are regarded as the characteristics of the sentences,and the textual characteristics are analyzed by the textual connection and the anaphora.Then,the author uses the literal translation and the free translation method and the translation strategy to analyze the context for the legal and occupational terms appearing in the original text,while the sentence is difficult,supplemented by supplementary,voice conversion and split reorganization.In the difficulty of text translation,the author analyzes the anaphora and connectives of the textual discourse.The above analysis of the translation of vocabulary,sentence and discourse constitutes the key chapter of this translation practice report.Finally,by summarizing the translation practice,the author gets some the gains and shortcomings from the translation project.The purpose of this paper is to not only give readers the characteristics and translation methods of the employee handbook,but also to provide reference for the same type of text translation.
