| Interpreting plays an important role in the increasingly frequent international exchange of ideas,and the quality of interpreting directly influences the result of exchanges.As an important criterion for the evaluation of the quality of interpreting,cohesive devices count a lot.Hence,the cohesion in discourses is a key factor for the study of interpreting.A lot of cohesive devices are used in English presentations so as to make the expressions more fluent and cohesive.During the E-C interpreting,interpreters should not only convey the speaker’s meaning,but also pay attention to the use and transfer of cohesive devices.Owing to the existence of great differences in terms of cultural backgrounds and language customs between Chinese and English,interpreters should not copy completely the cohesive devices in English,but transfer them properly into the Chinese style so as to meet the requirements of Chinese ways of expression.Based on the Cohesion Theory proposed by M.A.K.Halliday&Ruqaiya Hassan,this thesis classifies the cohesive devices in the interpreting practice,compares and analyzes the source language and the target language in the consecutive interpreting of-"German Culture" in the following five aspects:reference,substitution,ellipsis,conjunction and lexical cohesion.Besides,it also sums up some approaches of how to deal with the cohesive devices in English and use appropriate cohesive devices in Chinese for the sake of fluency and cohesion,aiming at providing guidance for the future relevant interpreting practice. |
