Study On Poetry And Prose In Xi Jinping The Governance Of China ?-from Steiner's Hermeneutic Perspective

Traditional Chinese culture and new political ideas are combined and intertwined in this new era.Xi Jinping The Governance of China is one the best examples.Studies about this book,especially those about poetry and prose are rare.This thesis analyzes the ancient Chinese poetry and prose in this book from the perspective of George Steiner's Hermeneutic Translation Theory and discusses the feasibility of this theory in poetry and prose translation.The research finds out that Steiner's Hermeneutic Translation Theory is applicable in poetry and prose translation.Each step of the fourfold translation action(trust,aggression,import and compensation)can be identified in translators' efforts.First,to set up trust,translators are required to be familiar with both politics and culture and equipped with excellent language competence.Second,in order to understand the poetry and prose,translators need to be aggressive,invade into the original text,and try to understand the aim of the speaker,uphold the political spirit of the whole speech,and keep translation aim in mind.Third,to express the whole information of the original text,translators needto absorb certain culture elements,import these elements to the target language without confusing the readers,and thus achieve the cooperation between source and target language.Finally,translators need to compensate for the information lost during translation by means like adding notes.This is a complete translation process.In this way,translation can achieve the balance between political implication and culture connotation.This thesis still remains some limitation.More samples should have been taken to analyze the feasibility of hermeneutic translation theory,and then the research result would have been more convincing.Due to personal competence,the analysis of"aggression" and "import" is not holistic enough.However,researches of Xi JinpingThe Governance of China IIHare rare,especially in the analysis of the poetry and prose part,the author hopes that this thesis can be part of the support in this field.
