This thesis studies the errors in the acquisition of Chinese characters in Indonesian students,focuses on the analysis of the types and causes of those errors.On this basis,it analyzes the main characteristics of Indonesian students’ Chinese character learning,then puts forward reasonable and practical suggestions regarding Indonesian students’ learning of Chinese characters,teachers’ pedagogic methods and redaction of textbooks.This thesis includes the following six parts:As the introduction,the first part starts from the motivation of the research from the perspective of the importance of Chinese character components teaching and the learning characteristics of Indonesian students.Then it combs through a variety of existing research results within three aspects:the original parts of Chinese character components,the Chinese character components teaching and the acquisition of Chinese character by Indonesian students,trying to find out the patterns and connections,so as to provide a theoretical instruction for the following research.Next,it presents the purpose of this research is to improve Indonesian students’ Chinese acquisition level by continuously optimizing the pedagogic methods of Chinese character components,and moreover it shows essential meanings in promoting the practical application of modem Chinese character and components study in Chinese teaching,and improving the efficiency of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Finally,it explains briefly research ideas and methods of this thesis.The second part gives a theoretical overview on modern Chinese characters components and their disassembling.After having learned the definition of components,similar conceptions such as traits,radical parts and indexing parts are being distinguished,followed by an analyze on 3,000 Chinese characters in The Graded Chinese Syllables,Characters and Words for the Application of Chinese Teaching as Foreign Language.Firstly,the principles concerning disassembling Chinese characters are being discussed,and the idea is put forward that Chinese characters should not be simply disassembled by their special relations,but should be split based on the principle regarding Chinese characters’ forms and the ability of components in forming characters,referring to teaching results as well.Secondly,3000 characters are divided into components,non-word components and deformed components,and named them according to the pronunciation and position.The principals and methods suggested during Chinese character components disassembling are summarized,referring to existing research results,based on practical concerns in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.In this way,students could learn about Chinese character in the help of components,so they could master a simple and efficient way of disassembling Chinese character components and their reforming into characters.The third part analyzes the errors of Chinese characters components appearing in Indonesian students.This thesis collects the corpus of more than 10,000 characters from 72 Indonesian students and conducted statistics of the component errors they produced when writing Chinese characters components.According to the theory of component errors,this thesis divided the errors of Indonesian students into four types,namely:The increase of Chinese character components,the reduction of Chinese character components,the transposition of Chinese character components,and the deformation of Chinese character components.Besides,the reasons of errors are analyzed regarding error theories and their characteristics:firstly,Indonesian written language in considerably different from Chinese characters;secondly,teachers paid too much attention in traits,and directly moved on to memorization of whole characters,ignoring the subjective elements lied in the connection function of components;thirdly,objective elements such as the complexity in structures of Chinese character,similar forms of characters,deformation of certain components and conflicts in trait orders.The fourth part discusses the situation of Indonesian students in learning Chinese characters components through questionnaires.According to the results,Indonesian students pay less attention to Chinese character learning than to grammar and new words,and adopt mechanical memory methods in Chinese character components learning,which leads to low interest and inefficiency in Chinese character learning.Besides,there is no affirmed theory about disassembling of Chinese character components,leading to a various of theoretical instructions in teaching,which proved that the Chinese character components teaching still needs to be reinforced in Chinese teaching as a foreign language.The fifth part puts forward suggestions on Chinese characters components teaching from both pedagogic methods and teaching materials,based on the analysis of the errors of Chinese characters components and the learning of Chinese characters components.Our point of view is to integrate the basic knowledge of strokes,stroke orders,notes and meanings of Chinese characters into Chinese characters components,to form a system of "strokes-components-whole character",and give full play to the advantages of Chinese characters in Chinese characters components teaching.As a conclusion part,the sixth part summarizes the research content and viewpoints of the full text,and gives a brief explanation about the limits lying in the author’s capacity and exterior environment,which leads to imperfections in this thesis.
