A Report On The Translation Of "Analysis Of The Reservoir Forming Conditions Of Block X In Korat Basin"

Petroleum is the blood of industrial development and the key to lift Chinese economy,and the hydrocarbon accumulation is the fundamental of petroleum industry.With the globalization of petroleum engineering,English has become one of the most important languages in petroleum industry,and thus English translation is getting extremely important,especially the translation of terms used in petroleum geology and exploration.This translation report is based on the first three chapters of the 24,000-word technical report Analysis of the Reservoir Forming Conditions of Block X in Korat Basin,which mainly includes geological conditions and sedimentary facies analysis in K-basin.Before translating,the syntactic and textual features of hydrocarbon accumulation reports have been analyzed,and the feasible translation strategies and methods studied under the guidance of translating variation theory,laying a solid foundation for the translation of the report.The purpose of this translation report is to discuss the translation standards and strategies both on lexical and syntactic level,based on the establishment of a glossary and a sentence alignment corpus.It is expected that this report will help to regulate the use of hydrocarbon accumulation English terms in gas test projects and to accelerate the internationalization process of Chinese petroleum geological exploration technology.It is also hoped that the glossary and corpus can help Chinese oil service personnel and translators to prepare relevant bilingual materials better and faster.
