The compilation of local annals in ancient Fujian Province reached its peak in the Qing dynasty.After the compilation of Lujiang Annals by Xue Qifeng in the era of Qianlong,Xiamen Annals published in the era of Daoguang is said to be a second masterpiece of official local annals,and it contributed to the collation of ancient documents of Xiamen.Under the guidance of practical thought,the compilation group headed by Zhou Kai completed a series of work such as collection,compilation,proofreading and publication of historical materials of the annals in nine years from 1830 to 1839.The style of the annals was influenced by Fuyang County Annals(compiled by Yun Jing),and it also took advantages of both the textual research school and the literature school.As such,it had an important influence on the compilation of the upcoming Jinmen Annals and Xiamen City Annals(Republic of China).As the first official island annals,its contents reflected the fields of history,politics,economy,military,social customs,etc.in ancient Xiamen.Therefore,this annals not only have high historical value,but can also make certain contributions in bibliography and textual research.It has a high value in reflecting the style and features of Xiamen in the Qing dynasty and can provide a reference for the study of Xiamen history. |
