The book,Medical Toxicology of Natural Substances: Foods,Fungi,Medicinal Herbs,Plants, and Venomous Animals,is a professional introduction of the physical features and toxicology of common plants, animals, etc.,which are often used by the public in daily life. The author of the book,Donald G.Barceloux,MD,specializes in medical toxicology and has been practicing medicine for 45 years,so his works are professional and authoritative. From the book, the author of this thesis chooses three chapters as the translation material, which are the introduction of three plants: aloe vera, eucalyptus, and tea tree. With the translation, the author hopes to provide more information for people's understanding of aloe and some essential oil products. This thesis firstly states about the translation material and the translation process, later mainly categorizes and analyzes the problems and difficult parts the author encounters in accomplishing the translation, which is also the core part of this thesis. In the source text, many plant names are Latin, and in the process, the Latin-to-Chinese translation of those names is hard to handle. In the case analysis part, the author classifies and uses tailored strategies for them.As for the difficult words and sentences, under the classification of Words and Sentences, the author makes several independent sub-classifications according to the subject each case belongs to,like botany, medicine, and chemistry, etc. In the end the author writes and shares the experience and skills the author learns.
