Oral English competence is an important language skill.In order to develop this competence,teachers should focus on enabling students to translate language knowledge into language skills.In the context of the development of modern technology and multimodal theory,a new teaching method,multimodal teaching,has been created.Borrowing English video clips for oral teaching can not only mobilize students’ enthusiasm for learning English,but also provide students with real communication situations,and then develop their oral English competence.Based on the above background,this study draws on the latest theories and research results such as multimodal and Krashen’s input hypothesis,and based on classroom teaching,the oral English teaching mode with English video clips was constructed.This study focuses on how to teach oral English with the original English video clips from a multimodal perspective.After the teaching experiments,what is the reaction? What are the problems? And what specific improvements have been made to the identified issues? The author first proposed the steps of borrowing English video clips for oral teaching,and then combined with two specific case teachings for multimodal analysis.Through the specific classroom teaching practice,the results of the questionnaire survey of the students and the interview results of the teachers are analyzed.The results of the questionnaires and interviews show that the use of English video clips for oral teaching can be recognized by students and teachers.One of its most important advantages is that it can stimulate students’ interest in learning English.Let students participate more actively in the classroom and truly become the center of the class.In addition,this model can create a real language situation,let students understand the British and American culture and more easily understand and memorize the knowledge points,and then make the spoken expression clearer and smoother.The author puts forward some specific suggestions for the questionnaire and interview analysis.Firstly,this teaching method puts forward higher requirements for teachers’ personal qualities.Teachers need to improve in multimodal consciousness,organization management,multimedia skills and verbal expression.In the clip selection materials,the materials need to pay attention to the positive content,the lines of the dialogue are clear,and the content is close to life.The teaching steps should indicate the times of playing each clip.The input of the basic language knowledge cannot be ignored,and the teacher’s evaluation should be added.In general,this paper analyzes the specific implementation and the results of oral teaching with English video clips from the perspective of multimodal,and draws the problems encountered in oral teaching.The problem is to find countermeasures.It is hoped that combined with multimodal discourse analysis,the English learning channels will be broadened,the English teaching form will be enriched,and the input of teaching information will be increased,so that the students’ oral English expression ability can be effectively improved. |
