On Axel Honneth’s Recognition Theory

In the modern civilized society,economic globalization and science and technology without borders has an unprecedented development and change of human life.When human enjoy the light of the upcoming new era,there are also cracks in the road which is not harmonious.Absence of subject spirit between affective commitment and social conflict,people want to pursue a wider range of equality,so exploring the freedom of the justice of modern social conditions become the current social urgent problem.As the third generation inheritor of the Frankfurt school,Axel Honneth is based on the experience of modernity and the ills of society,paying close attention to human survival predicament,put forward recognition theory and justice theory,provided a new path and direction to solve the social conflict and body injustice experience.To explore the motivation of social conflict and the conditions necessary to social justice,we can’t avoid political-ethical recognition theory,and study its value for contemporary social development is particularly important.This article attempts through the reason,the ideological reference,the core theory of Recognition theory,and its further development’s rationality-the theory of multiple justice,finding out the political-ethical acknowledged theory significance and limitations,then for construction of a new era of a fair community in China providing some theoretical reference.From the theoretical value,Political-ethical acknowledged theory make up for the lack of normative social critical theory of Frankfurt school,completed the "political philosophy" task of critical theory,marked the critical theory of contemporary social development;it is also the inheritance and development of marxist historical materialism,whose marxist critical spirit is used to analyze the phenomenon of contemporary society,so highlights the contemporary value of Marxism.From the point of practical value,Political-ethical acknowledged theory as the characteristic of humanitarian social norms theory,pay attention to the social function of the irrational factors between the subject,is committed to research the dignity of the disadvantaged and marginalized groups and survival condition,to admit that as a specification of the development of society,in order to realize the recognition and respect to people,make the subject of the unity and personality integrity as the target,guide people to pursue the good life.It is of great significance to solve the social contradictions with Chinese characteristics,conducive to China’s construction of the new era of good social harmonious community.The innovation of this paper lies in the system research and the new research path,finally located in reference of practice value to China’s social development.From the theory of recognition’s playing background,theoretical origin,the core of theoretical model and its further development in the field of political philosophy---theory of recognition justice theory systematically began.On this basis,profoundly studying the rationality and feasibility of multivariate justice theory which is based on the recognition,and making foreshadowing for the following evaluation of significance and limitations of the whole recognition theory framework.Finally discuss the value of the recognition theory to solve the social contradictions with Chinese characteristics,as well as the construction of contemporary China in the new era of social community.This article is divided into four parts.The first part,in 20th century later period capitalism objective of social development present situation,and under the background of the theory of Frankfurt school horizon,detailed study and analyze of all kinds of social evils,and historical retrospect the Frankfurt school’s theory paradigm transformation.Then analyze political-ethical thought resources concretely in recognition theory,not only has inherent theory accumulation of Frankfurt school critical theory,but also influenced by the thoughts of Hegel,Mead,Foucault and Habermas,which become the theoretical resource and practical driving for the theory of recognition.The second part,from the analysis of the basic connotation of theory of recognition,revealing the basic pattern of recognition,including positive pattern(Love,legal,and unity)and contempt form(Rape,deprived of the rights and insult),to admit that recognition paradigm is the basis of social justice specification,and contempt of experience is the motivation of social conflict,more important,illuminating the importance of the recognition pattern for realizing the individual ego practice quality.The third part,examining political-ethical deep development of the theory of recognition---on the basis of recognition of multivariate justice theory.Through elaborating the starting point of multivariate justice theory,which lies in arguing with Fraser about redistribution and recognition for many times,then describing its content and normalization of justice theory based on the recognition.According to the above research,find out the rationality and value of the theory of multiple justice which based on the acknowledgement.The fourth part,primarily researching the recognition theory’s value of era and historical significance,revealing its explanatory power and capacity.The fifth part,from the three angles of political-ethical acknowledged theory respectively,absorbing its reasonable aspect,to offer theoretical suggestions and practical experience for China’s construction of a new era of better social harmonious community.
