| K-12 education has attracted attention of experts and scholars from all over the world. At the third annual conference of Global K-12 Education Research Association, the reports delivered by experts and scholars from various countries on the development of students’ arts literacy in the K-12 education stage have important research significance. These reports are collected, translated, and published as the Blue Book of Global K-12 Education Research Association in C-E version. The translation quality and effect are highly valued. This practice report is written mainly based on the translation of 6 reports in the Blue Book. The translation process is divided into three stages including preparation, text analysis and translation, and proofreading.Through the analysis of the source texts, the translator finds that this type of text is of distinctive characteristics. The translation practice is carried out under the guidance of the text typology theory.According to the theory, text types can be divided into the content-focused,form-focused and appeal-focused,and there are various translation requirements for texts of the three types.Report belongs to the content-focused text, and the translation of this type of text requires invariance in transfer of their content and orientation to the target language.Supported by this theory, the translator analyses the most common translation difficulties in the translation process, and introduces specific translation techniques. The lexical techniques contain the translation of technical terms and polysemous words and the conversion of the part of speech;the syntactic techniques include addition and omission, division and restructuring of long sentences and combination of short sentences. The translator hopes that the Blue Book in C-E version can serve as research materials for experts and scholars engaged in K-12 education study, and this thesis can offer some enlightenment for translators in translating the same type of texts. |
