Yao Yuanchu(1892-1954)is a famous writer in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.He has servced as the ceditor of the newspapers and magazines such as The Pacific News,The Republic of China Daily,The Qi Xiang and The Spring Sound,and is extremely influential in the press.He is good at poetry and novels,there are works such as"Yi Yangyi Poems","Cang Xue Ci"and"Hate the Sea and Boats".At the time of the Republic of China,he served as the first section chief of the Jiangsu Provincial Government and the secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education.After-liberation,he was hired as a librarian of the Shanghai Literature and History Museum,then served as the deputy magistrate of Songjiang County.Yao Yuanchu's literary talents are obvious to all.Zheng Yimei said that he can write seven thousands words one day,and all the types are wonderful.Liu Wuji praised him for his old-fashioned poems,beacuse all of them can be seen in the spirits of the martial arts.This article intends to elaborate Yao Yuanchu's poetry in the following sections.The first chapter briefly describes the life time of Yao,which is divided into"childhood period","study period","reporting period"and"political period".In the past research papers,the childhood experiences and the impact of the original family have been neglected,so this thesis focuses on the analysis of the decisive factors of childhood experience and Yao's personality and thoughts.The second chapter discusses the activities of Yao in Nanshe,and combs out the events that have important impact on his life and the formation of his literary thoughts.The"Tang and Song poetry debates" has been sorted out in many Nanshe research materials,so this article will not discuss the event itself,but will put more attention on the attitude and the deeper reasons about Yao Yuanchu in this event.The third chapter discusses the theme of Yao Yuanchu's poetry,and divides it into "sentimental sentiment,good for sorrowful words","at the time of the war,enthusiasm and restraint coexist","Missing friends and relatives from afar".And a major change in Yao's middle-aged poetry style is given attention.The fourth chapter discusses Yao Yuanchu's poetic thoughts.His poetics not only has the interest of traditional literati,just like the spirit of the"Xingling"that he always upholds,that is,the section"Being the first temperament of poetry",and at the same time being influenced by the times.The influence has some modern factors,as described in the section on"Literature Evolution".Through these two perspectives,Yao's rich poetic views are adorned.Finally,it is concluded that Yao Yuanchu recorded a rich inner world and historical scenes via his poetry.He is also a person who is good at summing up the rules of creation and reflecting from time to time,so his poetic thoughts are also very good.He is good at combing the development of poetics,inheriting the tradition of Chinese literary theory,and contributing to the complete westernization of China's old-style poetry without being completely broken.At the same time,his poetic thoughts also reflects the new changes of some times.Compared with the traditional inertia of the poetry that emphasizes intuition and feeling,Yao's poetic view has become a systematic sign.
