Abstract/Summary:
Research objective: as the artistic language of painting, line is not only a simple and intuitive expression, but also the most basic and important existence. From ancient to modern times, both traditional and modern, eastern and western art works, from all angles, line in the aesthetic process occupies a large proportion. On the one hand, line is the basic form of painting and plays an important role in the composition of painting works. On the other hand, line is by no means isolated in a work.It is not only a means in the process of painting, but also carries the subsequent creation and even extends to the composition of aesthetic meaning, realm and style. It can be said that the modeling of lines in painting works is its basic modeling, which is particularly evident in Chinese painting. As one of the essential characteristics of Chinese painting, line reflects the aesthetic taste and interest continued in Chinese history, which is completely different from western painting in function. Therefore,in the perspective of contrast between Chinese painting and western painting, line modeling in Chinese painting is of certain research significance.Research method: the research method of this paper is mainly literature research.Through the comparison of painting works in different time and space, the works of Chinese and western representative writers are compared. This paper is divided into four chapters.Starting from the meaning of "line" in Chinese and western contexts, this paper first compares their different philosophical and aesthetic thoughts and extracts the concept of line modeling. The second chapter then summarizes the characteristics of the lines from the Chinese and western classical paintings which have gone through more than ten centuries, and adds the reflection on the sense of space and perspective; The third chapter expounds the change of Chinese painting lines under the "xu jiang system" and its influence on modern times through the changes of painting styles of the two under different historical reasons. The fourth chapter discusses the characteristics of the three schools of modern Chinese painting, combined with the previous summary, the future of Chinese painting mainstream line modeling will rely on the conclusion of personality school. Results and conclusion: in Chinese classical painting, the basic modeling appears as "line modeling",and the separation of shadows inevitably leads to the planarization of the picture.Correspondingly, this kind of planarization also promoted the expression of lines.Due to the lack of realism,it is more free to convey verve conveniently. In traditional western painting, the basicform means "modeling line" : although the precise contour line is very clear, its image is based on the reproduction and realism of the original Greek sculpture, which is attached to the mass.Compared with western lines, which tend to be accurate and realistic, the abstract and lyrical functions of lines in Chinese classical paintings.Under the influence of block surface structure, lines in western paintings are relatively obscure. At the same time,as they complement each other with light and shadow and block surface, works often give people a sense of solidity and stability. In this way,we can have a glimpse of the difference between the two,so as to have a better understanding of modern ink figure painting influenced by western sketch and have a clearer development direction. In the western concept of painting, with the change of culture and history, there has also been some transformation, out of the understanding of nature for direct handling and imitation, line and block surface structure and light and shadow together, with a calm and accurate thinking to understand painting.Especially after the Renaissance, with the study of perspective and human anatomy, western sketch undeniably became the basis of modeling learning.
