The Comparison Of Animal Idioms Between China And South Korea In Metaphorical Perspective

It has become one of the most popular objects of linguistic studies nowadays that the metaphor is not only a linguistic phenomenon but also a cognitive phenomenon.The animal idiom metaphor study is relatively weak in the system of metaphor study and the metaphor research in Chinese and South Korean animal idioms is much less.Idiom which is a kind of conventional fixed phrase in written language is an important culture in China and South Korea.This thesis,out of the perspective of metaphor,taking contrastive analysis as the main method,aiming to animal idioms in Chinese and Korean,through description and explanation of Chinese and South Korean animal idioms,explores the deep reasons of the differences.Reasons for the same: same views,animal’s common features,human’s common cognitive model,similar cultural background.Reasons for the difference : different views,different natural and geographical environment,different traditional culture and emotional preferences,different thinking mode and aesthetic.Explaining animal idioms in metaphor perspective can not only excavate the deep cultural connotation in a new angle but also enables us to has a profound understanding in Chinese and South Korean way of thinking and the different internal cultural mechanism.There are many animal idioms in both Korean and Chinese,so it is of great significance to know animal idioms and their metaphorical meaning.Researching Chinese and South Korean animal idiom metaphors’ similarities and differences is helpful to teach South Korean students idioms,to explore two nation’s traditional culture and to bridge these two different culture.
