An Analysis Of "Political Islam" Of Ayatollah Khamenei

Ayatollah Khamenei was born into a religious family,and was influenced by his elders' education,especially his parents,who not only taught him a lot of knowledge,but also shaped his good character.After receiving formal education,he studied under various masters,such as Ayatollah Borujerdi and Imam Khomeini,met several lettered characters of the time,such as Navab Safavi and Rafsanjani,even Dr,Ali Shariati and the leading persons from Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood;The various theories and works of these people have posed a profound influence on the formation and development of Ayatollah Khamenei's thoughts.Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's political activities began in 1962.From 1963 to the eve of the1978 Iran Islamic revolution,he has been arrested seven times,and was beaten and tortured nearly to death in prison,but he always adhered to the various activities including contacting intellectuals,solidarity colleagues and making speeches in mosques and other places to publicize Imam Khomeini's revolutionary thoughts,and so on,causing him to develop a strong character.Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was also very active during the breeding period of the Revolution for ten years,chronically as revolutionary committee,director of the Islamic revolutionary guards corps,Islamic Republican Party' Secretary General,he in each position are conscientious,contributing to the victory of the Islamic Revolution.Following the Islamic Revolution,he was appointed the Imam of Tehran's Friday congregational prayer by Imam Khomeini and he was active in the Majles(Islamic parliament),and soon served as the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran,during which he put an end to the War between Iran and Iraq in a proper way.After passing away of Imam Khomeini,Ayatollah Ali khamenei succeeded Iran's Supreme Leadership,ranging from Rafsanjani to Rouhani.In his presidency,he aptly maintained the stability of the Iranian politics,haddled a variety of foreign affairs,spared efforts to promote the development of Iran's state.Over his long-term life as a staunch revolutionary,the president and the supreme leader,he developed his own well-prepareddoctrines by delivering speeches,writing books,of which is to be investigated “Political Islam” is a part of his thoughts.This thesis attempts to analyze the “Political Islam” with respect to its four items: first of all,to elaborate on his life;secondly,to examine sources;thirdly,to discuss his religious democracy,Guardianship of the jurists and Muslim unity;Finally,to evaluate it.
