With the degree of globalization being strengthened,China’s preschool education but and its new ideas has been promoted by the initial global education integration.The increasing number of educators have put themselves into the exploration of education models at home and aboard for the reasons of the national great attention of education development and the public thought turning from “schooling” into “better schooling”.Meanwhile,the cultural and linguistic diversity of enrolled students has urged preschool institutions to put forward urgent needs for teachers to improve the teaching ability of cultural and linguistic diversity as well as to assess and guide these special students correctly in the background.Therefore,in order to develop preschool education in China and draw advantages from preschool education abroad,translators need to introduce advanced foreign education.The report is based on the translation of a textbook about preschool education in Arizona State University.According to the analysis of original text’s features,the author puts forward translation strategies from the perspective of Adaptation in time-space,communication and cognition to contribute to the development of China’s pre-school education.This report is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the translation task description,which includes the background,and the demands of the client.The second chapter talks about the whole translation process,including background study,the utilization of aided translation tool and the translation quality assurance.The third chapter analyses the features of original text from three perspectives of time-space,communication and cognition.The fourth chapter is the key part of this report which not only introduces the definition and application of Adaptation Theory,but also analyses the examples of textbook from three aspects based on Adaptation Theory.Then the author comes up with the corresponding translation strategies to adapt to the vision of target readers.The fifth chapter is a conclusion of this translation practice.With this text analysis combined with theoretical direction and examples explanation,the author finds that the Adaptation theory can be well applied in educational academic books.Finally,theauthor hopes that the report can provide some help for translation of educational academic books or textbooks.
