Singapore is an international city with close cultural exchanges between the East and the West.The local Chinese writer Yeng Pway Ngon starts from his own life experience,portrays the human condition in the process of the transformation of the times,and different life choices under the dilemma,and presents local characteristics.Therefore,it is necessary for research.This thesis takes Yeng Pway Ngon's six novels as the research object.On the basis of literature research and textual reading,this thesis aims to criticize and deconstruct his works with postcolonial theory and to explain the narrative experiments with the methods of narratology.The thesis is divided into six parts.The first part mainly introduces the life experience and main works of writer Yeng Pway Ngon,and the research situation of the scholars at home and abroad.The second part focuses on the two concepts of hybrid and mimicry in Homi Bhabha's postcolonial thinking.The third part focuses on the frustrated male group image in the novels,trying to outline the evolutionary track of his creation,and analyzing the performance of frustrated men in the aspects of lust,ideal,and loneliness of survival,and discussing the causes of this marginal situation.The fourth part of the forgotten Chinese history is divided into three sections.From the three aspects of "Aphasia of Chinese-educated students","Urbanization and Chinese tradition" and "Dilemma of identity",the whole six novels aim to demonstrate the author's thoughts on the fate of Chinese-educated students,the loss of traditional culture and the reconstruction of identity.The fifth part focuses on the narration experiments of Yeng Pway Ngon's diverse genre creation and inno-vation,divided into two sections:"Cross-border writing" and "Narrative innovation",revealing that his conscious sense of innovation and unremitting efforts to subvert the existing literary norms.The conclusion of the sixth part summarizes the achievements of Yeng Pway Ngon's novels creation and unique narrative skills,and then appealing more people to pay attention to and participate in the study of Yeng Pway Ngon and his works.
