If comb and reflect on the theme of women's liberation and female identity recognition in the evolution literature in the twentieth-century,we would find that the image of female identity has experienced quite a tortuous track.Under the "May 4th"enlightenment discourse, the female image is mostly "Nora who run away from home" or "female who has nothing",undertaking relatively fixed social functions in a relatively single identity, and it is quite difficult to become critical and enlightening by just showing women's suffering and misery. The image of "Female who has nothing" in the "17-year" novel which usually appears in the mode of "revolution and love",is no longer the confusion after leaving, but the establishment of self-awareness and emancipation of the individuals by participating in social combats and taking social responsibilities. With the liberation of the individual. The voice of liberation has become more and more serious since the new era.and the social functions undertaken by women have also become more and more complicated, more and more questions need to be answered in the process of pursuing individual liberation. The "mad women" image which is constantly struggling in rules and restrictions broke through and reconstructed the imagination of women in previous works, making women's self-feeling and self-experience appear in a state of nearly extreme madness. It is worth noting that most of these works are from female writers and on the one hand contain authors' own anxiety, incitement and care and thinking towards the female group,on the other hand, those works also reflect the actual confusion of women in seeking their independence and liberation under the special social and historical environment. This thesis takes the image of "mad woman" written by female writers in the 1980s and 1990s as the research object, selects the typical text to fully explore the particularity and universality of this image, and deeply explores the complex features such as "madness and civilization",humanity and animal nature of the "mad woman"image, and mines the cultural connotation and social value pursuit of this kind of image. This thesis expounds the image of "mad woman" from the four aspects, which are general situation, image characteristics, reason exploration, meanings and shortcomings. In the vertical direction,it compares the typical "mad woman" image in modern literature with the image of "mad woman" from 1980s and 1990s wrote by female writers;in the horizontal direction,it contrasts with the image of "mad woman" written by male writers and "fool" image presented by males in literary works. The image of "mad woman" written by female writers in the 1980s and 1990s has serious anxiety and crisis of identity recognition, and it is difficult to obtain spiritual reconciliation and spiritual rationality,so that the behavioral mode is in an uncontrollable state.Although with distinctive features from female vision which also comes along with strong emotional color, female writers with whose unique life experience and creative experience, explore the spiritual core and psychological characteristics of "mad women",open a broader space for creating female images.
