With the development of economic globalization and network informatization,more and more letter words flood into Chinese and become a special linguistic phenomenon in Chinese,attracting scholars’ attention to letter words.Scholars’ research focuses on the definition,classification,pronunciation,standardization and media application of letter words.After the publication of the dictionary of modern Chinese(6th edition),scholars have carried out an in-depth discussion on the letter words with western letters at the beginning of the text of the dictionary,including letter words into the Canon law,letter words destroy the purity of Chinese,letter words using specification problem,etc.These problems of letter words have not been effectively solved,so it is necessary to study letter words.With CCL,BCC,the People’s Daily,"News broadcast",Language Situation in China,Practical letter word dictionary(Hou Min editor)as a source of corpus,using Liu Yongquan(1994)definition of letter words,combined with the " Modern Chinese Dictionary "(7th edition)receiving letter words,233 letters word it as the research object,the statistical analysis of letter words in the collection,classification,definition,formation,etc,Combined with relevant linguistic theories and lexicographical knowledge,this paper discusses the principles of the inclusion of letter words in Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th edition)and the application of the included letter words in the media,and makes further research on the inclusion of letter words in the dictionary,so as to promote the meticulous and standardized compilation of the included letter words in Modern Chinese Dictionary.The paper is divided into five parts.In the introduction part,it is mainly to sort out and summarize the research results of former sages on letter words,and find the unstudied and insufficient points in the previous research results,thus to conduct my research activities from the new research content.The first chapter is letter words on quantity,form,paraphrase study in Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th edition).First of all,233 letters word interpretation,type,statistical research,analysis of the "Modern Chinese Dictionary"(7th edition)letter words in the source,classification,characteristics,generation and interpretation,and from the letters written form of vocabulary,definition,grammar characteristics of letter words in such aspects as summarized,put forward in "Modern Chinese Dictionary",transcriptions synonymous words exist problems such as abbreviation,simple definition and labeling.The second chapter is a comparative study of Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th edition)and other lexicographs.In "Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th edition)receiving letter words,and" Modern Chinese Dictionary "(6th edition)receiving letter words,Hou’s receiving letter words situation,Analyze the newly added letters,deleted letters,same letters and different letters in the dictionary from multiple perspectives,and deeply understand the status of the entry of letter words into the dictionary.Finally,the author summarizes the four principles of receiving letter words in the Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th edition).universality,internationality,vitality and standardization.The collection of letter words is not based on a single principle,but on a certain principle,while giving consideration to other principles,reflecting the consistency of the collection system as a whole.The third chapter,using the statistical method of social investigation,establishes the corpus of "People’s Daily" and "News broadcast" to investigate the media’s use of the letter words receiving in "Modern Chinese Dictionary"(7th edition)and judge whether the letter words receiving in "Modern Chinese Dictionary"(7th edition)conform to the above principles.Taking 2012-2018 as the time line,233 letter words of People’s Daily were manually searched,and the situation of letter words and receiving letter words in Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th edition)was obtained,and the letter words with high frequency,low frequency and no use were listed.And analyze the phenomenon.Using "News broadcast" in June 2016,2017,2018 and sixth twelfth months video and statistics letter words,compare it with the receiving letterwords in "Modern Chinese Dictionary"(7th edition),and check whether it conforms to the principle of receiving letter words in "Modern Chinese Dictionary"(7th edition).The conclusion part is mainly about the overall understanding of the leteer words receiving in Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th edition),narrates the conclusions and existing problems in the research process and the aspects to be improved,and the prospect of the letter words receiving in Modern Chinese Dictionary.
