Satyajit Ray(May 2,1921-April 23,1992),a world-famous film master and a master of Indian film industry,has won more than 140 domestic and international awards throughout his life.Received many honorary titles.Among the many honorary titles,one of Ray’s own most willing to accept is “The Auteur”.“The Auteur" emphasizes the director’s personality and subjective initiative,advocating the director to use the camera pen for film writing,carrying forward the unique style and demonstrating profound internal meaning.In this paper,Satyajit Ray,the movie author,is the object of study,focusing on the ontology of Ray’s movies,using literature analysis and textual close reading to study writing,exploring the narrative motifs of her films and profoundly Intrinsic meaning and interpretation of its poetic realism style.In the article,the author first briefly reviewed Ray’s life and film creation career.On this basis,the author interprets the five representative series of works in Ray’s movie career in detail,and discusses the consistent narrative motifs in his films: personal growth,female fate,individual destiny,history,and character innermost.Afterwards,based on the ontological research of the film,he explores the origin and audiovisual presentation of his poetic realism style.In the end,it summarizes the glorious imprint of Ray’s different popular movie practice as “The Auteur” in the history of Indian cinema and the history of world cinema,hoping to provide some enlightenment on how to balance the commercial and artistic aspects of Chinese cinema.
