The Sound and the Fury,Faulkner tells the story of five times hoping to make it clear, the reiterated telling brings a question:how does the production of text meaning works.Firstly we analyzed how Faulkner narrates and shows the author’s voice:Faulkner wants to tell the story of "little girl with dirty panties",the narrative perspective changes, from the direct participants in the text of the story:Benjy,Quentin,Jason’s free voice,to Faulkner’s trust voice:Dilsey and in the end to the last teller Faulkner himself telling reader the biography of each character. It can be seen that it’s a process by which the the presence of author is constantly reinforcing. Then the writer shows us the voice of the text by analyzing itself:characters spreak free, full of noise. In the text space, languages interacts with each other constantly, from which the meanings are being produced constantly in the text.So this paper explores the production mechanism of the text meaning, the meaning doesn’t exist in the finished works, but in the continuous production process of the text activities. Finally the we concluded that even though Faulkner has set up a series of directional rules for the text, but the production of the text meaning is open and active,Faulkner stops writing which doesn’t mean stopping and eliminating the free voice of the text. The author’s each retelling is always a new creation and constantly adding new content to the meaning production. Therefore, when the author tries to establish the meaning on behalf of the author’s authority,it will inevitably quarrel with the voice of the text to some extent.
