Views On "Family" In Different Cultures

From the comprehensive study of Global Literature History,we can usually find"family" appeared as the theme of literary works.For the comparison of China and Japan which based from history,society,culture background transformed into modernized literature,it is known that China has May Fourth Reform and Japan has Meiji Restoration that affected the literary works.We can observe the literary works that contain "家(family)","家庭(home)","家族(clan)" that shows the problem which the authors focus on the points of social and cultural,then written into literary works.From the mentioned issue,we have found that China and Japan has the same novel titled "家(Family)",for China Contemporary Era’s Ba Jin and Japan Modern Era’s Shimazaki Toson as representatives from two countries,the similarity of problems which their two-works has concerned to is almost nearly.This study referred to Ba Jin and Shimazaki’s novel "家(Family)" in order to get into parallelly comparative analysis.We begin with timeline’s background of two countries,then analysis based on the two novels’ characters,such as patriarch,youth and femininity to identity the similarity,difference and the cause of the two works.This thesis separated into 5 chapters.Chapter 1 is the Introduction of China’s“家(Family)"and Japan’s "家(Family)",discusses the two works’ concept and taste appreciation,also analyzes the two works’ publishing background.Chapter 2 to Chapter 4 mainly descriptively analyzes characters of the two works and gets into parallel comparison.Chapter 5 concludes the similarity,difference and the cause of the two works.From the result of this study,the cause of similarity and difference is mainly from:1.China and Japan’s Society System had constantly been criticized in the same way;2.Two-Authors has the difference concept of character’s cognition.For the former study respectively tended to the various complement,such as the comprising of culture background in the works,the concept of Two-Authors’ writing,the ending of the works,and derived "家(Family)" writing style or the evaluation of the similarity and difference.The innovation of this study mainly focuses on the analysis of characters appeared in the two works,especially in field of their choices and behaviors.Therefore,we can gain the deep cognition of the two works’ characters.This study provides the references of another dimension and method of cognition to China’s 家(Family)and Japan’s 家(Family)for the comparative analysis study in the future.
