The communication between countries becomes increasingly frequent with the globalization of society nowadays.People learn other countries about news,geography,humanity,culture and customs through books,media and other means.Tourism has become one of the most popular and important ways,and the related tourism texts have been developing rapidly such as tourism publicity advertisements,introduction of tourism scenic spots,tourism billboard instruction,commentary of handicrafts reflecting folk customs.Translation plays an important role in the development of the tourism industry,enabling people around the world to understand culture and folklore in other countries.This paper is a practice report based on translation of tourism texts,exploring the translation strategy to transmit culture and information in an effective and acceptable way for target readers.As one of the major provinces in China,Heilongjiang attracts domestic and international tourists with its unique cultural personality and national characteristics.The translation about the tourism texts in its provincial city Harbin is discussed,including the introduction of new added tourism resorts,as well as the replenishment of the existing introduction of famous tourism resorts.There are 19800 words in the original text.The paper is organized as follows: Chapter One gives a general introduction of the translation text in terms of content,background,purpose and significance.Chapter Two describes the whole translation work,including some preparation work of this translation task,translation work process and post-translation work.Chapter Three is the main part of the whole paper,discussing the difficulties in the translation task and the relevant solutions from four aspects,i.e.,vocabulary,syntax,textual and culture combining “Functional Equivalence” Theory of Nida and suitable translation methods are explored.Chapter Four summarizes the translation task about the shortcomings and the influence and enlightenment on the future translation tasks.
